I have a E5200 with a Gigabyte EP43-DS3L motherboard. My clock speed on CPU-Z is running at 1200 - 1800 MHz.

Any type of overclock over 2.5 is unstable even with a voltage of 1.38.

Any suggestions how to get a stable factory clock speed?

p.s. I have an aftermarket cooler.

Try the overclock stickys.

A P43 isnt as good as OCer as a P45, and you need to adjust more then v-core.

Again read the overclock stickys!

Make sure your Memory is running at a 1:1 Ratio

Likely it's not set to 1:1 and when you increase the FSB, your memory is OCing more than you realize.

its not good theory.

Pretty much what zenmaster said, check your max memory overclock before you start overclocking your processor...

I have CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory.

I could not even get 2.5gz without touching any of the motherboard settings.
