Well, I know it's an old thread, however, as I'm still running a MS-7248 (V1.X) board and also have had such problems finding informations, here are some.
Still I don't know, what the "R" means behind the MS-7248. My board does not have such.

The board seems to have been exclusively manufactured for MaxData, therefore you dont't find nothing at MSI. A manual you will find here:

ftp://ftp.maxdata.de/MAXDATA%20PCs/MAXDATA%20Desktop/1%...

Here they don't say nothing about max. speed, but you should use formerly so called Cedar Mill cores, these are the Processor numbers 631, 641, 651, 661 besides some Celeron types. Details see here:

http://ark.intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?codeName=26...

So if you still find an 661 (get me also one!  ), you should be able to run the thing at 3.60 GHz.

Hope this helps a little.
