The upcoming videocards from ATI are 4850 and 4870 are scheduled for june (possibly earlier but really, i dont think so).

I currently have a 3870x2 and I know that the 4850 is clocked similar. Now my question is that will there be a difference with CFX (3870x2 + 4850) and (3870x2 + 4870)? or even 3870x2 + 4870x2?

The bottom line is that I just want to make my pc a bit more futureproof for the upcoming games in the next year or two.

Of course there will be a differance. What exactly is it you are after? What is the best price/performance combo ? well its to early to say.
When they have the cards to benchmark we will know. Untill then yes there will be differances in performance but untill they are tested we are all in the dark.
