hello, I am currently running the QX6850, GA-P35-DS3L Mobo, and 2GB OCZ DDR2 800 XTC Platinum Rev 2 Ram.
Im on the stock heatsink running at 3.5Ghz at no more then 52ish Degrees Load. I have the CPU set to never underclock so its always sitting at 3.5Ghz and it idles at 45 degrees with a few apps open. My case has EXCESSIVE cooling, I beleive its the Antec 900 Case with the massive fan(200mm) on top and all the accessory fans, 5 in total, excluding the PSU fan (which has 2). What do you guys think I could push it to on stock cooling?. I think my FSB won't go much more then 390 from 333. after that I'd just be playing with the multiplier, any suggestions? possibly people with similar hardware.

Thanks,

Rob

load temps? i would say keep going till load=70 C.... what were you thinking getting an expensive extreme cpu with the stock cooler?? spend like $50 on a good air cooler lol..

I have to agree with V3NOM, it's an insult to OC an extreme processor without a good after market heatsink, after all those things cost what over 1k or so last I checked.

I got it for $240 through an employee deal.

wow. still, the extremes are built to oc like hell, to get any sort of good performance grab a cheap core contact freezer or xiggy 1283!

I HAVE A THERMALTAKE BIGWATER 760I WATERCOOLER ON MINE AND I THINK MY TEMPS ARE OK. CPU IDLE 36 C, GAMING 47 C, AND I HAVE THE SAME CASE. W/C IS EASY TO INSTALL I HAVE MY QX6850 CPU @ 3.9 GHZ
