The GA-MA790FXT-UD5P (http://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Mo [...] 90FXT-UD5P) has two onboard RAID controllers: the AMD SB750 and the JM322 (aka GSATA). I'm trying to figure out which controller to run my HDs from for the best performance.
I run two SATA2 Seagates RAID 0 (320GB), AMD Phenom II 810 (AM3), OCZ Reaper DDR3 1600 RAM (8GB), and GeForce 8800 Ultras (SLI) on Windows 7 x64. I haven't been able to find any benchmarks comparing the two controllers on equivalent systems.
Thank you for your help.

You know, this really sucks. I originally did my setup with raid using the GSATA chipset...thinking it'd be faster. And here you go making me want to use the SouthBridge's SB750 chipset instead.
So today I went to switch the chipsets. I was hoping that I could just the sata cables, make the change in the bios and all would be well and good with the world. Not so fast... I have to basically wipe out my HDD and start over fresh... freak!
At least I have done an image. So restoring won't be such a hastle. Just time consuming. In any case...let it be a lesson to all of you.
I'll post back with my findings as to whether or not I find it to be faster or not.
JMicron has exceptionally bad RAID drivers; do not use them! JMicron (JMB363) is fine for using Software RAID or as single disks, but do not use their RAID drivers.
Same goes for Promise FastTrak and Silicon Image; avoid the RAID-drivers of those!
