PCIE2.0 is backward compatible. It'll just run at the lower bandwidth.

Current generation GPUs do not take advantage of the extra bandwidth yet.
 
FYI, specs for PCI-e 3.0 was announced last August bumping band width.  
 
If you're gonna drop in a new high end GPU in 2 or 3 years, then PCI-E 1.0 might hold you back.

it'll do fine, its backwards compatible as previously stated, although, remember, that board can only do crossfire, not sli if you were planning on that as an upgrade route ;)
