I have the ASUS Maximus Formula (x38) and it's been great to me.
Lots of great features and a good solid board.

If you want to go a step up frm there I hear the ASUS Rampage is also a great board. It's practically the same board as the Maximus only with the x48.

As a sidenote, I am using this board with 2 3870x2 cards with great results since you mentioned crossfire. If it matters it will be an easy 23k 3dmark 06 machine.

Quite cheap and a good layout. Lacks retro(COM/LPT) ports. If only it were not for the rainbow colorscheme.
Aside from that it's a perfect fit for your needs.
ASUS RAMPAGE Formula would be the next step above the Maximus (pricewise, featurewise they are much the same).

It has a good layout. A pity the southbridge doesn't have a heatpipe as well (they went cheap). Orange is not my favourite color either.

DFI has a reputation for being difficult to overclock.
They also have bleeding edge performance if you can tweak it out of them.
Good luck. ;)
