E8500 and Q9550

If I OC the Q9550 too 3.16 and the stock E8500 is 3.16 will the quad have the same speed performance as the Wolfdale. Seems like if they have same speed the Quad is the way too go. Is the E3360 a good chip too OC? I do not see a lot of results or the E3360.

Running quad core optimized program (one that uses all 4 cores), the Q9550 will massively outperform E8500. Running non-quad/dual optimized program, which are nearly all software out at the moment, Q9550 will still outperform E8500, but only by a small amount. This is due to your PC moving the Windows background services and whatever background programs you may be running (like antivirus, bittorrent downloads) to the 2 spare cores, thus freeing up cores for the heavy program's exclusive use.

You can usually oc dual cores higher than quad due to heat production. Not sure about E3360.
