I am running Windows Vista 64 bit with Intel quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz and have 16 GB of RAM.

I run quite a few CAD packages and Mesh programs, one in particular runs out of memory Alphacam 2012 extremely fast when running simulations , this then leads to me machining almost blind (not good when your cutting a £6000 block of marble).
If anyone can assist in a few tweeks (if poss) that will almost certainly keep me from destroying something soon.

Solution
First and foremost, run 64-bit software. 32-bit applications under Win64 are limited to 2GB Address Space usage if they are not compiled as Large Address Aware, and 4GB if they are. Hence, you won't use all that RAM if the applications you use are 32-bit.
