Hey guys, lately I have been having some system problems (going to blue screen on startup) and from all my tests it is the graphics card because memtest found no problems after a night of running and I ran some cpu stability tests and they checked out, but my graphics card has dropped FPS since I tested it last on 3dMark.

My current system is
(going to upgrade mobo and cpu and maybe add more ram around Christmas)

E6400
Msi P965 Platinum Mobo
XFX 7600Gt
2 Gigs of Crosair DDR2-800 XMS2 ram
600watt Thermaltake ToughPower
Monitor- BenQ FP241VW (24 inch 1920x1200 resolution)
and a Raidmax Smilodon case

I want to upgrade to DX10 but I am not sure what card I should get, I need something that can run my resolution for games and I'd like to play Crysis on Dx10 (and the next 2 Crysis's) but the only card that I see promising for my resolution is the 9800Gx2. I am not sure If I can spend 600 bucks on a card however and I am also not sure if my 600watt psu can run it (it should it has 8 and 6 pin connectors and the gx2 says 580watts min for the cheaper PNY card)

Are there any other cards you would suggest? Also I was going to get a PNY if I bought the GX2 but I am in love with EVGA just the extra money is kinda ehhhh for me. I had the idea of maybe buying this EVGA

and then wait a few months to see how the card prices play out then use the step-up program to go to a 9 series (or not)

please comment ;)
Thanks

Seeing as your coming from a 7600gt, you are not one of those idiots who refuse to play games ( Crysis brigade) unless they can have all the effects on...

Your cpu like all Core 2 Duo's is a good overclocker, so try and overclock that if its possible with your mobo...

The gx2 is crazy expensive, 8800gts is the way to go imo, buy an evga one like below and step up to a 10 series card when they come at christmas...

Doesn't the step-up program only last 3 months though? So it would be around July if I buy the graphics card in April
Also on Evga's site they have a 1 gb ram GT, would that be better because isn't it the ram that is better for higher resolutions?

edit: from the info I've found it doesn't add really any difference so you are probably right just get the gts

oh and about the OC'ing my cpu, I have been doing it since I have a Tuniq Tower. Just once my crashes started occuring I lowered it to stock and ran my tests. I think I am going to get better fans for the case so I can even lower temps
