So i have a Q6600 @ 3.2 right now on water, but my temps seem kinda high and im not sure why, maybe they are low and i just dont realize. But my idle temps are around 25C - 39C depending on the core. And my load temps will go as high as 50C. im running 400 X 8, @ like 1.35V Core. And changes in voltage really don't affect the CPU temp. I want to OC to 3.6, but im just not sure about my temps.

Your Idle temps range from 25-39C? That's a pretty large variation. If your individual cores are varying by that much you may need to check to see if your water block is seated well. Any temp in that range is acceptable, but with water I'd think you'd be under 30C.

Your cores really should all be within 1-2C of one another I would think. At idle temps, my Q6600 cores are within 1-2C of each other with my generic brand cooler.

thats what got me about the whole thing, core number 3 is always a lot higher than the other 3. And i also would have thought that i would be under 30 on water, when i had my Opty 165 at 3.1 it idled under 30, so im not sure whats up with it. Ive reseated the waterblock many times and i know its good right now its just that that one core is always a lot higher, and when i OC thats the one i watch.

Just a side note, what was the ambient temperature of the room when you took your readings?

25c is about normal room temperature, so unless you're running up the electric bill with air conditioning then that may be as low as you go. Depending on the size of the room and(in the case of smaller rooms) how easily you remove heat from the room itself you may want to set up a box fan in a door way somewhere.

room is between 70 and 80 during the day and around 65-70 at night. So that might be the lowest i can go, still just seems kinda high, but it is a quadcore, 95W chip overclocked and probably pushing out more like 150W now. I just wanted to make sure the temps seemed reasonable.

that isnt hot go to the toms hardware page for overclocking and go under the thread for temp info. They say 4 the q6600 that like 45-55 C is safe temp. 55-60 warm. and 66 above is hot
