I'm going to buy a 8800GT through newegg

There is a difference in prices..Are these used ones or new? I'm new to newegg. Please help.

Open box is usually a returned item, so it may be doa, or just something someone didn't want or got the wrong product.  Generally newegg is pretty reliable though.  Decent to deal with.  
 
Why not consider a brand new one....for example

They do have another btw at 199.99 but it only had 2 reviews.  You may wish to consider another as someone said fan speed on that particular one was stuck @ 29%.

This one has a much better cooler than the stock one found on most GT's but that cooler will take an extra slot on your mobo
