I have a windows 2000 server set up sharing files. The computers on the floor are running Windows XP. How do you set it up so that when the xp computers try to access a share where they do not have access it prompts them for username and password. I know this is possible because I've done this on my home network although the 2000 server might through in a wrench.
so long as the location you are trying to access is set as a "share" and does not just have additional security rules, XP should automaticaly prompt for UN and PW when you dont have access.
