I currently have a e2160 OC@3.25ghz, 4 GB DDR2 800mhz 4-4-4-15, ASUS P5K, and 8800 GT OC. Will this last me for another 2 years? I was gonna build a Nehaleem rig next year but then i am gonna junk that idea unless I get some cash quick. If my rig isn't enough to last me 2 years, would it be a good idea for me to get Q6600 in 2 months? If i am getting Q6600 i would be getting a new case, some case fans, and AC Freezer 7 Pro. By then, I am hoping that Q6600 prices will drop to around $200-$230 CAD, right now its around $260 CAD. Any suggestion on what to do?

P.S - I am hoping to save money for an ASUS G series laptop that i am planning to get in 2 years since i am most likely gonna do some out of town studying for University and wont bring my whole computer with me.

Id hold off a q6600 now will give you benefits but not enough to be worth it. the Q6600 will more than likely not drop that low in price as youll find it will get phased out soon and they generally go up in price at that time (i know the e6600 was costing more than a e6750 at that time)

Yeah it'll hold unless you want 100% eye candy, then you'll need to upgrade your video card.

I woudl keep your current C2D 3.25ghz and upgrade when you're no longer having a good gaming experience.

I am having this struggle because my cpu is being 100% utilized when i am playing Gears of War and also 80%-98% for Assassin's Creed. If it doesn't drop in price then i might consider a E8400 or E6750.

you have the 30-30 warranty

30 seconds or 30 feet which is first - wait that's for used cars

30 seconds or 30 boots which ever is first

after thinking about it some more - i have determeined your system will last 756493 seconds

i obviously have no respect for this thread - but your system will last fine for 2 years. in 2 years it will be just as good for email and just as bad for video encoding

The way I see it, the computer will last you two years, but at the end of two years you will be playing games below native res and with settings turned down.

I'm trying to save for a laptop AND a nehalem build for college in 1.5 years :)
