i've seen factory over-clocked 8800gt that are even faster than the 8800gts that costs more but i don't know wats the difference. Its a inno3d card with clocks 700 core 2000memory so would i get near 9800gx2 performance for a much lower price?

I am in a similiar dilema between the 9600gt and the 8800gt.  I believe the major difference is in the number of stream processors.  Look for other differences besides the regular core clocks and memory clocks.  Also, the 8800gts generally has a better cooler; which means a better overclock if you want to push it farther (thus possibly making its core and memory clocks faster than the 8800gt.)  I know that probably didn't help much but I thought I would throw that out there....

Unless the manufacturer change part of the hardware, like adding aftermarket cooler or volt modding, factory oc is worthless. You can achieve the same results by ocing yourself.

9600gt and 8800gt use different gpus, so they can't be compared. 8800gt's g92 is far more powerful. 8800gts(g92) uses the same gpu as 8800gt, but with more stream processors enabled (128 compared to 112), so it's not just a difference of cooler.

Sometimes those factory overclocked cards are higher binned chips.  But I agree w/ dagger - don't pay the premium and take your chances overclocking.

The only reason I am sorry is I usually take the time to research things before I make a statement; thus making myself another stupid kid....
