GIGABYTE GA-EP35C-DS3R--many reviews for DOA--really?

I got my QX9650 and was ready to order the GA-P35-DS3R. Then I saw the referenced MoBo. The possibility of DDR3 for future-proofing ( I know, I know, we never REALLY know) looked attractive. But every review I punched up said there were issues with DOA. I don't think I found 1 on the plus side. Is GigaByte trying to get to foo-foo with this board? Anyone with any experience with it? I am literally waiting with order screens open to end this folly. Any help?!

More about gigabyte ep35c ds3r many reviews really
  1. I think ppl are just stupid and don't know what they are doing. Unless it is a manufacturing defect. It's not an R but I find it hard to believe that there is that much difference between that and l series to cause DOA.
