I built the following system:
Case - Antec P180
MOBO - Asus P5n32-Sli SE
Cpu - Intel E6400
Memory- OCZ 2 GiG DDR2-800
Video - MSI 8600 GTS
PSU - Antec 550w HeNeo
HD - 2 * WD 250 Gig
DVD- Sony Dru820a, Nec Nd-3550A, Lite On
Input - Logitech G15 and G5

This was my first time building a computer. Everything appears to work ok. However, when I reboot my sytem the computer often throws me into the Bios setup. I am not sure what is causing this. Does anyone have any ideas? I could really use the help.

1.assuming that everything is seated properly,,then you might try reseting the bios and double checking that the battery is properly locked on the mobo, and finally if you cannot find the problem ,,can you take the mobo to where you bought it,and if it works then you have a lousy connection somewhere.i had an asus board actually qiut on me took it everywhere no luck, bought another mobo, then one day whilst examining the asus board noticed that a couple of the vesa pins on the bottom were touching each other, took a the nailclippers to them...:)

I don't know if pc builders do this right after the barebond build, but they should: clear cmos, load defaults & set up boot order at the minimum. The board may have been used by something else with different settings.

I didn't do it

i bet its saying like hit f1 to correct a problem and what most people overlook is if you don't hook up a 3.5 inch floppy and you didn't disable it in bios that's going to happen.

Did I hit you with a Mack Truck?

Mine does that since I have watercooling, it always freaks out looking for a CPU fan. I have to set the BIOS to ignore fan warnings on the board. Another possibility is that your CMOS battery is dead or bad and not holding the settings. Like kg4icg said, maybe you don't have something correctly connected either, like a floppy, or if its actually looking for a PS2 keyboard. Most of the newer boards look for USB/PS2 keyboard emulation anymore, but its always a possibility.

Remove the warning labels; evolution should take care of the rest.

Thank you for responding. Hmm. I will have to check the battery and try resseting the bios. I bought the mobo from Newegg. When you say a loose connection, what are the common places that you are refering to that would cause the bios screen to pop on at bootup?
By the way, if I reset the bios, what settings do I have to manualy make?

What is the best way to clear cmos? What affect will that have on my computer? Sorry, first timer here.
I did set up boot order.
Thanks for your input

No it isn't saying to hit f1. It just throws me into the Bios setup screen. Thanks though.

99.9% of the time I'm a forum lurker but I felt compelled to post.

Did you set up a boot sequence in the BIOS? Maybe it's looking for a drive to boot and because none are set it goes to BIOS by default...

Best way to clear cmos would be power down pc, disconnect power cord, wait for psu & mobo lights to go out, press power button in the case to discharge capacitors, remove the cmos battery, short the clear cmos pins for 1 min, hook everything up.
