Hey People I'm pretty desperate...

I have two Western Digital Raptors [WD1600ADFD] they spin up just fine no clicking no nothing they're fairly new but cannot be recognized in the bios / OS I'm well experienced in PC repair so I know its not my mobo or bios settings or cables or anything obvious ... I really wanna save these drives if possible please tell me what you think / suggest!

Do they contain data? Have you tried them from a different computer? Did you try different SATA slots? Did you try to run WD's diagnostic tools?

That's the link to the Raptor downloads page. It has the Data Lifeguard tools on it. You can either put it on a floppy drive and boot from it, or onto a CD and boot from it.

Let us know how they shape up.

its wierd you have 2 drives having the same problem honestly.

i would try them in another computer or use a sata to usb adapter

and see if they work.

He stated that they arent recognized in the bios so I doubt any software tools would work at this time.

I called WD on my 2.5 year old Raptor because it was making a clicking noise after a long enough time on the phone with someone from India they offered to replace the drive for free through warranty. Best part about it was they upgraded me to a VelociRaptor in exchange because they didn't have any of the old version left. You might want to call them up and explain your problem. You paid for them and they aren't working, be a little assertive.
