When I first open Palm Desktop the Datebook appears. Is it possible

Open Palm Desktop
Click Tools
Click Options
Make sure "General" tab is displayed
Click "down arrow" to the right of "Startup Application" data entry field
Click on application you wish to see at startup (e.g. Address Book)
Click OK

This should do it for you.
