advice re buying 2 year old TV

My neighbour is selling a 2 year old Philips 50 inch TV. Is this a
reasonable choice for an occasional TV/Vdo watcher?
Anything I should be aware of about this thing??

That may be one of the sets notoriaous for the SSB problems, but you should
post the model number and some of the techs here might be able to tell you
more specifically. The fact that it is Philips would be enough reason for
me to stay away form it.

At this time you can download the Philips Force program and the service
literature for free. You have to install the software to be able to use the
manual. Included are service tips for known problems.
