Hey guys I'm just wondering what the best TV tuner there is for my PC. I have available PCI and PCIe1x slots and all the connectors a guy would need. I'm just looking to record some shows for my GF so she can stop nagging me about a Tivo or VCR(what's a VCR, lol). I'm using Vista 32 Premium and will probably use the Media Center features to set up the recordings. Dual TV inputs would be nice but not really needed.

By the way, media centre is rubbish, it wont work with my compro E800 card.

I would recomment a compro E800 the software that comes with it is cack though. There pci-e 1x slot compatible so future proof.

I've always been a fan of Hauppauge cards especially since they work great with Linux and MythTV. Whatever brand you choose I would get one that does hardware encoding. Most of the Hauppauge cards do have hardware encoding. I have a Hauppauge PVR250 and I'm very happy with it. The Hauppauge PVR500 has dual tuners but some people say that the recording quality is slightly lower, perhaps because the signal is split.

Yeah that Hauppauge 1800 seems like what I'm looking for. Thanks guys.

Oh and the only reason I'm trying to stick with Windows Media Center(Vista 32 Prem) is because it'd be easy for me to fuss with that than to try and show my girlfriend how a new program works. Girlfriends and computers just don't seem to get along.
