I was just wondering, whats the G92 mean :D
I have ordered this card on recommendations from other forum users, but was told strictly to get the G92 version!

Just curious to know how it all works :)
Thanks

Mwaha, I just ordered the card, and got it today. Gotta wait 'til Saturday to pop her in though. :(

You should be excited. The G92 refers to the architecture the GPU is built on. As I understand it, G80 is for the older 8800 series cards, for instance, the 8800GTX. The 8800GTS 512 edition has the G92 chip, the same one the new 9800 series is built on. Does it make it the same? No, but they say that the 8800GTS is comparable to the 8800GTX until you hit very high resolutions.

A 9800GTX is supposed to be an overclocked 8800GTS, but then again you can further overclock the 9800GTX, but it's price is not yet determined. Some say $350, but I imagine it to be at least 4.

Long story short, great card, great price.

EDIT: I should also say that you were told correctly. The 8800GTS 320 and 640 MB editions are much older, (I believe based on the G80 architecture), but perform much worse than the current 512 model. Current 8800GT's<512 8800GTS's<8800GTX<so on. But considering the performance of the GTX is not double the GTS, which the price currently is (er.. 1.5), in my opinion, makes the GTS the best buy.

Thanks :D Im considering even going with a slightly smaller CPU or different MOBO (overkill right now) and watching the prices on the 9800GTX

Forums are great :D I was so lost a few weeks ago now its finally coming together!

The second product is a dual GPU card, in this case 2 8800GTS 512's put together (with a slight underclock). Unless you play at 1900 x 1200 resolution or higher (24" screen) hence the big price.

You haven't said what size screen you'll be using, but at anything up to 20" the first product is perfectly fine, (apart from in Crysis)
