Hp officejet 4500

Hello,
purchased an hp officejet 4500 printer yesterday - when i choose the printer to print from i get the following message:

windows can't find a print provider for this printer - i have tried reinstalling the software but didn't work - help if you can - i have vista software.

It happens with other printer models also. Does it happen when using particular software, loki photo gallery for pictures, or just plain printing anything, text, photos, using file menu print, etc.
Haven't seen solution yet, though
