For some reason when i load XP 32 or x64 it will freeze when its idling on the desktop and sometimes just randomly.

Windows Vista Ultimate x64 runs just fine but... I hate Vista

Any idea whats happening?

I have close to the same setup. I have never had this problem. XP can sometimes get fussy when you have more than two gigs of ram did you try to run them with only 2 gigs. If that isnt the problem then I would guess it either a heat problem or hardware problem. Sorry I wasnt much help. By the way, vista has gotten a little better since its sp1 has come out. I really dont think xp is that much better than vista anymore. Windows 7 is coming out soon, hehe, so u can just wait for that, i guess.

Have you installed it on it's -own- HD and let it format durring instilation?

If so and both HD's are the exact same you will see how much faster XP is.

not sure about am2, but in the past i had issues with amd's cool n' quiet on s754 and s939. it would mostly freeze up in games in xp 32-bit. once disabled, never had the issue again.
