ok i have a ocz 700watt gamexstream psu, and i just ordered a 6-8 pin adapter for my 9800gx2. Is it safe to use it? BFG and XFX and Asus ship with one however EVGA does not. so what if i plug it in and it causes a fire or something... can someone assuage my fears or explain to me

*also in your opinion is it safe

whatever you do make sure a video camera is running :bounce:

Should be fine, as long as that rail has enough amps. As I remember 2 leads on the 6 pin are the same as 4 on the 8 pin.

ya thats a good idea to get a video camera going.. however my sony ericsson k850i was stolen a couple days ago :( 'cries'

looking back now, im really mad at myself for not going with BFG... honestly BFG is just much better than EVGA... they not only include a 6-8 pin adapter which would have saved me $30 they include a 6ft long hdmi cable.. my god thats insane

And I hear BFG has a step-up program now as well, and they honor MSRP rather than purchase price, not to 2nd guess!

Despite that, I love eVGA. They have quality stuff and good support.

5 years... not only will the 9800 gx2 probably be beyond obsolete... it probably won't work... honestly the quality on products these days is going down.................way down

growing up we had a magnavox tv... 20 years old about while the newer ones i've seen and heard of don't last more than 5 - 10... ridiculous

Yeah well how else will companies make money if they make things that last forever?

I think it's fine Maverick7. Just ready a fire extinguisher near by just in case.

I'm using a 6-8 pin adaptor and my system did not catch fire. It seems as if the adaptor just addes grounded jumpers for the 7th and 8th pins.

As others have said, the video camer is a must not that you've hexed yourself.

My adapter works fine....and I ordered BFG for the sole reason of getting the adapter with the card....I did my homework before I dropped 600 bucks.
