I have Corsair DHX XMS2 Dominator Dual Channel 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800Mhz ( 1GB x 2 ) currently running in my Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 motherboard, at 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v . It has been running stable for over 1 year. A friend just gave me 2 sticks of CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel ( 1GB x 2 ) that is also rated at 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v . Even though these are different parts numbers, will they be compatible with my Dominator RAM ? I am thinking since the timings and voltage are the same, everything should be ok, but I figured I would get some confirmation before trying it out...hate to start off a week with a smoked component or 2 . Thx

Should work, just match the right DIMM slots with the same brand sticks...like 1&3 and 2&4, if that is how your dual channel modes break out, otherwise, just match the DIMM slot colors with the same sticks :) .

Worst case, your machine just won't like them and refuse to boot, but shouldn't hurt anything.
