My own searches on Google indicate a PSU incompatibility issue. That PSU looks like a nice one though so I can't say for sure. Maybe look up PSU compatibility charts?

4 pin CPU power connected?
Power connected to 9800GTX?

According to CPU support list that CPU isnt supported by that mainboard as well so that could be a massive ishhh

Through a BIOS update or from the factory? Just throwing this out there but you two could have a different rev board. I havent researched it to know if there is a different rev but anythings possible.

I think englandr hit it on the head.. your board may support that cpu, however, it may require a bios update first. do you have an older cpu that you could throw in there to update the bios? If memory serves me right, that is a 45nm cpu.. in which case there is a bios update for compatibility with those cpus.. here is the link to the bios download page... let us know if this works

Find your bios version. Compare it to version 16.
Clear the bios in any case, whether you flash or not.

if it is socket 775 it should work i don't see why not.. however i could be wrong.. anyone else? it does suport pentium 4 and pentium D according to the manual.. I just downloaded it to help you.. as long as it is socket lga775 cpu it should work with your board

Unfortunately not. Your old P4 is a socket 478. You need a 775 socket CPU.

Are you referring to a Pentium D? If so, then yes it will work. Tell us exactly what cpu it is and we can answer better. If it has pins sticking out of it then my answer above is correct...

Thats perfect. This will rule out the compatability issue. Times like that is when I love having spare parts lying around...
