Hello,

What other security (protection from virus and spyware) system do I need in addition to the already built in Windows firewall?

Currently I have a Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, 2002 version, service pack 3, intel, celeron, CPU 2.20 GHz, 2.00 of RAM.

You need a real time antivirus software. I recommend Avast, Microsoft Security Essentials, or Avira. You may want to try them out and see which you like. You only want one of them at a time.

Another useful software is Malwarebytes. It's a great malware scanner, but doesn't offer real time protection.
