2 9600GT is basically the same as 1 3870x2. 9600 is slightly faster with antialiasing, 3870 faster without, so it evens out. The difference is in the motherboard. x38 is far superior than the 680i. It's FSB is 1600mhz native, compared to 680i's 1333mhz native. X38 also runs cooler, more compatible with ram and RAID. But of course, if you don't plan to overclock or upgrade, the faster FSB don't matter.

but 9600 s are 1gb per. and it makes 2x 1gb .does it really matter to have like 2gb of ram with vga? or 1gb is already enoguh?

1GB each? Aren't they normally 512MB each? I guess there's a 1GB model out there then. And yes, more ram would make a difference, but only at very high resolutions and texture detail levels. Although I'm not sure if the 9600 is powerful enough to run smoothly at the extreme resolution and texture levels required to take full advantage of 1GB ram or 2GB in SLI. It would make more sense on the 8800GT or GTS(g92).

Are you planning to get a new monitor in the future? I'm not really seeing the point of going dual video cards if you're playing at 1280x1024. You can save yourself some money and get a 8800GTS (G92)...

8800GTS gives the best bang for the buck, but make sure to get the new g92 version and not the old g80 card, there is a big performance gap. 3870x2 is good if you have money to burn and want good performance. 8800gtx is just a waste of money, considering it's slower than 3870x2.
