Alright, after much debating here's the final rig.
This is my last chance to see what you folks think.

This will be my HDV editing, Photoshop and After effects rig.
I'll be over clocking a Q6600 (G0) to around 3.0Ghz.
By the way I got it at Microcenter for $199!! Limited time walk in special!

Or better yet stay with Vista 32-bit.

And it would make sense from both a power-consumption and cost perspective to go with fewer and higher capacity HDDs.

very good, but expensive. you can cut price on case and motherboard. i got q6600 last week from microcenter as well. i got mine oc at 2.8 on stock cooling. i can go to 3.0 ,but the performance difference between 2.8 and 3.0 is not much. i think it is not worth to increase vcore to save 2 seconds delay. Good luck.

This RAM is $70 less:
Crucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148183&Tpk=Ballistix+4GB

These cards are faster and quieter and spread less heat inside the case:
BFG Tech BFGE88512GTSE GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143119

EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB

They cost only $25 or $30 more.

The motherboard is a massive waste of money IMO. You're not even going to take advantage of its Crossfire capabilities, since you're buying an nVidia video card. You could save $215 and lose nothing useful by getting this one instead:
ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX

For the hard disk: I really like my new 750GB disks (WD7500AAKS), they're MUCH faster than the older 500GB (WD5000AAKS) I had before. From what I've read they beat the Seagate 500GB too. They are also cheaper per GB. Seagate on the other hand has longer warranties.
