CD/Dvd drive not recognising + hd prob! PLZ HELP!!!!!

Hi everyone!

I'm really hoping that someone can help me...

I have been given a dell 110L Latitude, i wanted to re-format the laptop.... but then found out that the d-drive is missing, i couldnt find it anywhere on the laptop, even after putting a disc in, the light would come on, but wouldnt load.

So i followed someone elses advice on the forum, where i had to go to the REGEDIT... and delete upper and lower filters, then restart, then the d-drive should appear.

I done this and now when i start up, i get an error message....missing - windows root system32 hal.

And when i go into the bios, it is saying that there is no hardrive.

Hellllppppp, i havent got a clue why this is happening.

I hope someone can advise

Thanks for answering so quick.... but thing is, i cant re-install the drive's, as i cant go any further than either seeing the message (As above) or getting into the bios.

So not sure where to go from here...

Hi, I've tried that one, i thought that might of done the trick lol... but just my luck it didnt change anything!
