Im going to get an Asus P5N-D, NF750ihttp://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=729916 and this PSU 750W TX Corsair http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=684732

Ive read a lot about needing 6/8 pin adapters for different psu's and motherboards. Will I need adapters with the above combination? The reason I ask is I will be building the computer outside of office hours and dont want to have to stop because I havent got all the right stuff.

And I suppose as a side note, is there anything un-obvious that I might have missed getting that would hold up the build? Like do I need thermal paste for a Q6600 on that motherboard?

Im quite sure your psu will have all the necessary connections, and im willing to bet a few you didnt need to boot. If your using a stock cooler for that cpu, yeah it will come with thermal paste already put on for you, i would suggest that you get a after market cooler though, the stock ones just barely keep the cpu from throttling under normal usage, if you plan on overclocking, or pushing it to the limit, your going to see it throttle down due to it reaching its threshold.

That PSU has 6+2 pins. You'll be fine with it.

You need them for the video card, BTW, not the mobo. Lots of high-end video cards need 8 pins.

Get this cooler:
Xigmatek HDT-S1283

It comes with thermal paste, but you're better off buying your own, like this one for example:
Arctic Cooling MX-2 High Performance Thermal Compound
