i would go for amd 64 x2 5000 BE, it is like 84$ from newegg and u can definitely get a nice board for around 100 from there and that might even let u spend some money on 2 gigs without going over 260, and make sure to get a better psu if u don't have a good one, i bought 2 hec 585watt and they are very good so far, i have used them for like 3 months, they are like 25$ and they are great, i haven't seen a person having problems with them other then DOA very rarely.

cpu 90
motherboard 100
ram 40
psu 30

this should turn out 260 with shipping, i added shipping to the costs, the ram might be a little more for a ddr2 800 2gigs

it is my understanding that if you only have one card that you HAVE to install in on the 1st PCIe slot, someone correct me if im wrong.

No depends on ur mobo my previous mobo let me put it on both, but u have to make sure sure the 2nd 1 runs at x16 so u get the full benefit.
