It is a file/program that starts windows (NT Loader). If it is missing it might have been corrupted. To fix it reinstall your system files through the repair function. I am assuming you have xp and have your disk.
Try going into your bios and have it autodetect your HDDs. I've had the NTLDR problem before from changing hard drives around while my bios didn't notice the change.
