Hi Everyone

I need a new CPU and Graphics card , i have £115 for both. I will not be overclocking it,  i already have 2Gb memory and a 500w power supply. The budget cannot be more than £115 unfortunatley.

If i list the different option i have and the prices, could i have some recommendations please ?

CPU
£42 - Intel E2160 Socket 775 Pentium Dual Core 2x1.8Ghz 800FSB
£49 - Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 2.0GHz
£53 - Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2GHz
£57 - Intel Pentium Dual Core E2220 2.4GHz
£75 - Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20GHz

Graphics
£33 - Sapphire HD 3450 512MB DDR2
£40 - PowerColor HD 3650 512MB DDR2
£48 - Inno3D 8500GT 1GB DDR2
£48 - Sapphire HD 2600 Pro 512MB DDR2
£60 - EVGA 8500GT 512MB
£66 - Inno3D 8600GT 1GB DDR2
£70 - MSI RX 2600XT 512MB GDDR3 Heatpipe silent
£70 - Sapphire HD 2600XT 512MB GDDR3

So which pair would be best for games ?
Also in the list of CPU above why are the first four not described as Core2Duo , but it does say Core2Duo on the box in the pictures ?

Edit: If anyone has any other recommendations id be happy to hear them.

Thanks

2180 + 8600 1GB.
(OC both of them. The E2180 can hit 3Ghz easily, and the 8600 should give you about 30% OC)
PS: I didn't know they had 1GB 8600s. Mind linking?

I agree with Shadow, if the budget is completely fixed.

If you can use some older CPU for a while and save more money, or if you can borrow £26 or so, get an E2160 or E2180 and this video card:
PowerColor ATI Radeon HD 3850 Pro Extreme 512MB, £99

It's about twice as fast as the 8600GT.

^Agreed. I would go with that because of the DDR3 RAM.

WOW! 1GB on such a low end card is kind of a waste (they probably did it cause of the cheap price of DDR2 chips vs DDR3). They should seriously put this kind of RAM on each core for the 9800X2s.

^ agreed about that memory being put into 9800 gx2.
also, i dont think 8600 gt is actually fast enough to utilize 1gb of ram at a good speed.

It should easily outperform any of those you have listed.

Nice find! Yeah, the 7800GTX beats the 2600XT. I must admit I didn't expect that...
For some weird reason the 2600XT does a bit better in Oblivion, but that's an exception.

@OP: How about waiting until you saved enough money for an E2180 and a Tuniq Tower and a HD 3850 512MB or a 9600GT, do you think you can do that? It's worth it, IMO.

E2180 + 8600GT
but because the power the gpu in the 8600gt you cant fully ultilise the 1gb memory.better to get a ddr3 512mb and so you can upgrade the cpu.

^Agreed. You will benefit more from the CPU since you will not be gaming 80% of the time.
