i overclocked my q6600 on air to 3.2 ghz. when i do the prime95 stress test it passes the first test but gets to hot on the second. The thing is though, when i play a video game it never gets that hot, the hottest it gets is like 50 C on video games. Which is safe. Whats the point of prime 95

Im no expert but I guess the point of prime testing is to determine the continous stability of your setup under 100% cpu load. The game itself may not stress the cpu to the max, but what in situation where you have some apps running in the background and you play a game? Having passed prime testing at decent temps you know youre safe. My cpu temps are 50-60 in crysis but in prime its constantly around 70
