Static during playback from hd being accessed

when im playing mp3's on my pc and doing something else theres major static and slowdown of the track...this started happening only yesterday and wont go away i even reinstalled my audio interface drivers...any1 know whats going on???is my hd dying?

never mind guys i had to download something called Intel application accelerator...my hd's were jumping from ultra dma to pio mode...i was getting ready to buy new speakers and interface...and yes i know my pc is a dinosaur but its still chuggin along...i have one in mind, just waiting for these damn newegg prices to drop but for the past 2 months its been a roller coaster ride with them...

i might just break this week or next and just spend the $1375...i doubt it though lol...
