Hey guys i just got my 9800gtx and sadly it wont fit in my 1st pcie slot due to the hardrive cage blocking its path. Would it work placing it on the 2nd pcie slot??

Pull out your dremmel and cut out a section of the HD cage. Or try getting a bigger case. I will probably only go full tower from here on out to not have any issue with space.

It certainly wont damage it to try...

I havent tried it in the second pcie slot on my board (no need to with my case) although I dont see that it should cause a problem to try, if youve got you computer out from under the desk and the side of anyway might as well give it a go.

oh okay thanks guys ill try to put it in the 2nd slot if it doesnt work ill upgrade cases.

depends on the mobo check the bios - you need it in the first slot to boot to bios

many will not!

I would also recommend moving part of your hard drive cage out of the way.
With only 2 HD's you should easily be able to move one to make space.
