Cites some models of the 4870 x2 may have 2GB of memory. As far as I can see, the limited memory of the 9800gx2 really rapes the cards performance at higher resolutions. Only having 512MB per processor isn't cutting it from some reviews.

Can anyone confirm or provide information on the amount of memory that will be on the 4870x2? If a vendor builds a card with 2GB i would definitely buy it.

Whoa!!!check out the memory clock on the 4870, 2200mhz, 4400 effective, 141 Gbs/s bandwidth, with a 256 memory bus, monster clocks indeed.

It's unlikely those memory speeds are still true. The reports now are saying they'll likely go back to gddr3 with a 512 bus like nvidia's gt200 due to severe gddr5 delays. Expect the 4780 and 9900 GTX or w/e to have the same memory speed and bandwidth.

More likely, look for maybe the first 4870s to have DDR3, then have DDR5 at a different time, later on, just like the 19xx series as well as others , going from DDR3 to DDR4
