what do you think of this build?i have never build a amd system in my life!!!is this one thats got hdmi out on the motherboard?
purpose?cheap home run pc for very basic general use.
Should do well, but keep in mind that the on-board video will eat into your system ram. Also, if you want to run the ram at the rated speeds, you'll need to change the muliplier to an even number. Easy to do with a "black box" edition because of the unlocked multiplier, but not as good on the non-"black box" edition becuase with the non BB you'd have to lower the multi. If you had the BB edition you could just up it to 14 vs the stock 13. Its a memory divider thing. If this is your first AMD, then you wouldn't know that. Another way to increase the speed of the ram is to just up the system clock until it takes you to ~ 400 MHz (DDR2 800 spec).
Yes, the unlocked multi is the only positive. Don't get the unlocked 6400. 3.2 is about as high as it would go anyways. You wouldn't want to increase the multi from 16. If you wanted to squeez more out of it, you'd just up the system bus... but you wouldn't get that far anyways.
How much is it? I like the zalman 9700. The AM2 install really isn't that bad for the 9700. The 775 install is another story. The zalman website is better then the instructions that come with it though.
