Sean

Without knowing what the are in your particular case..

Some software when installed does not install an 'uninstall' routine..

When corrupted, some software loses its ability to uninstall..

If program folders are 'deleted', this will prevent correct uninstallation..

Please help us to help you. What pieces of software? What do "all
conventional methods" and "without success" mean? Exactly what
did you try? What happened when you tried? If you got an error
message, please quote it verbatim.

Do you mean "pieces of software" as files (mostly .dll, sys, log, txt) and
registry entries left after uninstalling a program or whole programs that
you cannot remove via AddRemove tool?

There are many ways to clean up your machine - either manually or using
cleaning tools available on the web.
Another way is to actually install the program which you want to uninstall,
then use the freshly created uninstaller.
Also, you can use InstallWatch Pro (freeware on the web) to log the
installation - and then delete whatever's in the log.
