Ok, this is my first time overclocking a CPU. I'm only a high school student....Anyways, I have been reading guides for a few days and I have finally overclocked. Firstly, look at my system :
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66ghz - STOCK FAN from Intel
O/S: Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
Ram: 1gb x 2 Crucial BalliStix PC2-6400 (ddr2-800?) 4-4-4-12
Graphics : Geforce 9600 GT 256MB, retail overclocked already
IDE? : 500 GB Sata Company forgot???
MB: ECS G33T-M2
1) In my BIOS, it looked weird : the Vcore couldnt be changed, it was grey and unclickible
2)Instead of the actual Bus Speed <- the word from CPUZ (or FSB?) I had a Ref frequency?? thingy, as I changed that there was ANOTHER number on bottom that had the actual speed of the frenquency- ex. 125 ref frenquency? = cpu fsb? 333 mhz
3)The C1E thingy was supposed to be diabled right?
4)One really weird thing: Before I overclocked, the CPU had a speed of 2.2ghz...actually o_O lower than what this CPU should be...
5)I think this is alright, but the multiplier changes from x6 to x8, if I'm right, the multiplier is locked? When CPU is being used a lot it would be x8 with 3.2ghz, normally playing its 2.4ghz, still lower than 2.66ghz
6)ALSO.... im running with stock fan and sometimes it goes to 60'C with testing prime95, i have never actually tested it for hours, in a few minutes the CPU goes to 60' C. Is it on the verge of death?
Final Specs after overclock :
1)X6 multiplier Idle Temp : Core 0 and 1 around 33/34' C
Core Speed : 2400mhz
Bus Speed : 400mhz
Rated FBS : 1600mhz
2)X8 Multiplier no Idle Temp, Temp gets higher and higher...60'C
Core Speed : 3200mhz
Bus Speed : 400mhz
Rated FBS : not sure actually, never checked what it was at full speed
ONE LAST THING : what is the DRam for? it says 479.2 mhz, btw the ratio is 5:6.
EDIT!! : I found out why the multiplier does that : SpeedStep. It reduces teh mutliplier when not in use. thx
