So with the price cut, Intel's Q6700 is looking like a viable alternative to the Q6600. From what I've been able to dig out it seems that the 6700's x10 multiplier is easier to over clock and are pickedfrom better quality chips.

If I'm not mistaken, aren't nvidia chipsets less capable in the area of over clocking than Intel chipsets? If that is the case would a 6700 by worth it if one plans on building an SLI system?

Ultimately ,how does the 6700 stack up right now?

Hey im very much interested in the same thing here, was looking at the q6600 and now with this massive price cut the q6700 is looking rather nice.

However im unsure on the specs of the q6700, i knows its got a multi of 10 which is gr8, but wat of the rest? i.e stepping? B3 or G0? Are they both kentsfields cores? Power Consumption?

There must have been a reason why the q6700 was soooo much more expensive than the q6600?

hmmm, the whole attraction of the q6600 is that it was the cheapest Quad, now it still is, so i would still go with the q6600. if your looking for something with more power go with the q9300.

^at least that's how i see it

why would you go with the Q9300 over a Q6700? The 6700 is clocked higher and has more cache and overclocks better. And they are roughly the same price. Am I missing something?

Q6700>Q9300 Any day of the week and 3 times on Monday morning.

Q6700 only comes in G0, yes it's core is Kentsfield, and yes it has 10x multiplier, as opposed to Q6600's 9x, and Q9300's 7.5x.

With the price drop, I don't see any reason to why you should buy the Q6600 or Q9300 over the Q6700.
