The 9800GX2 is essentially two 8800GTS G92s on the same card, but it costs a little bit more than two of the normal cards would in SLI. Should I get a 9800GX2 or two 8800GTS G92 for SLI for my new build? Motherboard will be an EVGA 780i if I go the SLI route, or maybe an X38 board if I choose the single GPU route. (If I choose X38, I'll probably look for ATI cards instead)
And its far easier to OC 2 single cards than a double card sharing a cooler. The GX2 is stock clocked at 600MHz the GTS is at 650MHz stock. My GTS is at 750 without a hickup, I can go higher but i dont feel like tweaking it that much.
As I get 13500+ marks from 3d'06 with two 8800 GT's, I call BS on the Fudzilla article.

The difference is marginal, and I think that 8800GTS OC in SLI would outperform the GX2OC , as the GTS is scuh a great OCing card. Besides, with power issues, with the 8 pin connector for the GX2, I think that the GTS option is preferable. The only argument that the GX2 has, is that you can SLI that, and is therefore more futureproof, but that's not much of an issue. Go for the 8800GTS I say.
I use 2 BFG G92 GTS OC Cards in SLI,and I have them running at 9800GX2 specs in my Antec 900 case.I get 17,648 score in 3dMark06.I dont know if thats good or bad?
