I just finished putting together my first build, and having some problems The specs are;

Maximus Formula, e2180, 3870x2, 150GB raptor, 250GB seagate, Samsung DVD burner

When I try to boot up I get a few errors. "Detect drives done, no any drive found" and "CMOS check sum bad"

On my LCD poster I am getting "CMOS ERR"

This is pretty frustrating since it's my first build and don't know where to begin. I have switched my ram around, moved sata cables, and made sure i used a ps2 keyboard but no luck. Anyone having any suggestions?

Dettach all your drives (including any optical drive) and try to boot. See if it's run without those error.

If it doesn't help, go reset your CMOS (CMOS clear), see your manuals for reference.

I'll give it a try tomorrow. I have to be up at 9:45am. Thanks for the response.

Problem solved. I guess I hooked up the usb ports from my case to my motherboard wrong. I unplugged them and now everything works.
