Not enough ram, you need at least 4gb to not have the PC dig into page file and slow down to a crawl.

Also, consider a x38 board if you want high overclock. The e8400 is good for ocing. The cheaper p35 board will do fine for minor overclocking.

Hey Dagger,

I'm not looking to overclock at all!! Since I'm kind of nooby at computer hardware. Anyway would you recommend four sticks of 1gb or 2 sticks of 2gb?

Thanks!

Luke

Of course 2x2gb. They cost around the same, and it's always nice to leave yourself room for possible upgrade. If you aren't looking for overclocking, the cheaper p35 will do fine.

Ok will do dagger.

Only thing holding me back now is the store says they have no e8400 in stock, and the next shipment isnt for a month. Looked all around town (Australia) and there's none! Damn! And expensive too at $360.

Just checking though.. will I be able to use both 2gb sticks under XP? I think I read somewhere it has a 3gb maximum.

It depends on your version of XP, 32bit OS can only use up to 3.2GB ram, while 64bit can use all 4GB.
