ASUS P5K-E WITH INTEL CORE 2DUO E7200 CPU

just bought P5K-E Motherboard, with
intel core 2duo processor e7200 lga 775,
2gb ddr 800 sdram,
powered by extreme power 500w, and
Nvidia e-GeForce 8500GT video card

i was able to bring the computer up and re-install/upgrade xp, and sp2. The next day when I rebooted the pc it would not come up. stalls at blinking cursor after POST.
Any help needed.

Sounds like a HDD issue. Run some HDD diagnostics. Make sure the boot order is correct.

I've tested Memory, the HD extensively,including the bootsector etc, and these are all OK.

Any other suggestions.
