heyas, i got myself a 9800GTX with a 22" monitor, im running Vista 64 with the latest drivers for everything. it will only run at 1280*1024

i have tried three different drivers and have mucked around with the scaling but there is no way i can seem to get 1680*1050

also a lot of the text looks washed out/blurred, but that may only be because of this res

any help is much appreciated

also using the menu buttons on the screen, in the information it displays the 1280*1204 res aswell. i dont know if thats because what it is at or for some other reason.

also the drivers for the monitor are installed its not coming up as a generic monitor

!!!Drivers!!!, make sure you have the latest WHQL drivers from NVIDIA, as you are using Vista 64, it only works with tested and aproved drivers, i belive the latest ones are 174.74.- also you can use driver cleaner so all of the remaining files of the previous installation are delete! ;)

Make sure you have the 174.74 drivers. These are the only ones that are optimised for the nVidia 9 series cards

I can't imagine a move back to XP will hurt, DX9 is still great. Edit: I'm not sure why those drivers aren't working for you.

There's nothing wrong with your card or your monitor. You have to set the card up to see the montor as a "tv". I don't have the right machine running right now to tell you how to do it, but a phone call to nvidia will have you up and running in minutes. Good luck and tell us how it goes.

Reason being? Without justifying your answers you're just inviting peoples contempt and ridicule........as I've seen already.
