I'm currently looking for solutions for network based media storing and sharing. I want something that will stream media to my PS3 and can be used to store data and share it locally.

Based on the research that I did, I found the following two options to be suitable for me in terms of price and features :

Western Digital WDH1NC20000N My Book World Edition 2TB

http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-WDH1NC20000N-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B001UHOR7O/

HP LX195 MediaSmart Home Server

http://www.amazon.com/HP-LX195-MediaSmart-Home-Server/dp/B0021L9HKK/

To me, both of them can do what I want plus more :

Can stream media
Can store data and share it

+ Can perform regular backups of any system
+ Data can be accessed from the internet

However, I believe that they use different methods because one is a NAS and the other is a server (Windows Home Server to be exact).

So the question is, Should I get the HP LX195 because it's a server and it will perform better
or
the performance is the same and I'm better off with the WD My Book World Edition and take advantage of the 2TB of storage ??!

Hey, I noticed this post when googling for the same question. Which did you end up doing and how do you feel about your choice so far? Thanks.

How is the software interface on the Acer? Does it also let you remotely stream video over the internet from it? I've found the HP LX195 for under $300 from HP using a $100 coupon (and bing cashback) so I'm wondering if that difference makes it worth it (especially w/ the seemingly robust software support and HP updates). Thanks for the quick reply btw!
