I would run prime longer i have had my comp lock up and/or bsod after 6 hours. 8 hours is a safe start. I also like intel burn test, it stresses more than prime, do like 20 runs on this at max.

you need to up the vcore one notch and try again. For example i just did the same thing for my OC. This morning i wanted to get to 3.625ghz

I had my vcore at 1.35 or something, ran intel burn test and it failed after like 10 mins, so i uped it one notch failed again, uped it one more time and i passed 20 runs at max ram. It took more than an hr to complete but it passed. Now im running a few benchmarks along with OCCT. i know they will all pass.

But to answer your questions go to bios and up the cpu voltage one notch and try testing again. repeat till stable.

Stick with 1.4V at maximum for the cpu. Running it higher for long periods of time could damage the cpu. Run prime95 small ffts for at least 12hours to check for stability. If it passes, then I wouldn't worry about the intel burn test. If it doesn't, then back off the overclock.

I have also tried with 1.6v but IntelBurn fails from the first second.

I have changed the Vcore to (1.4125V Bios --> 1.375V CPU-ID)
430X8.5=3656MHz

Stable on OCCT, Prime95, 3dMark06, FurMark

I think i will leave it like this....

You probably have reached the maximum overclock for your processor... Either your mobo can't run tat high... or your cpu can't....

I for one can get my q9550 stable for 24 hour prime at 3.85 on Air, i could go more on water... I will to when I go water :na:

make sure you up the northbridge voltage to about 1.5 and see if that helps...

ALSO

1.4 volts is WAY TOO HIGH for a q9550... if you want any kind of overclock that won't completely fail in under 6 months... get phase change cooling... or lower the voltage...

You don't even want to get into the 1.3 volt area with 45 nm chips... 1.35 is the max you should go

Thanks Thogrom!

I will try to lower the voltages a bit!
